A unique, £8.3m development which is set to increase significantly the provision of retirement housing in Slough was officially opened by the Mayor of Slough, Councillor Raja Mohammed Zarait, on 20 April.

Northampton Place, which is managed in partnership with Slough Borough Council, is an example of how the association is reinventing retirement housing to meet the needs of future generations of older people.
The new development provides an environment for people who wish to retain their independence for as long as possible, but who may need help and support on a regular basis. Each of the 56 properties has high-quality living facilities: the one- and two-bedroom apartments feature modern fitted kitchens, level access showers and efficient gas, heating and hot water systems.
The Hanover on Call service provides 24/7 emergency response, giving residents peace of mind that help is on hand if they need it. There is also an  experienced on-site care and support team provided by Slough Borough Council, which together with Hanover’s support services team all  help residents to maintain an independent approach to retirement living.
Claire Anderson, director of extra care services for Hanover said: “Older people now have control of their own decisions. By offering clarity of choice older people can continue to live independently at Northampton Place while retaining the services they need and value.”
